The best way to sow parsnip seeds.

The best way to sow parsnips:

One technique is to sow along a half-inch deep drill in the soil and then thin out to one plant every six inches.

The other is to sow three seeds at a time every six inches and later thin the seedlings to leave one parsnip at each station.

OR
It involves punching a 24 inch deep hole in the soil with a crowbar and then filling the hole with multi-purpose compost and a little sand.

The compost is squeezed down to remove air pockets and three or four seeds are sowed.
Parsnips are slow developers and can take up to eight weeks to germinate so the gaps between the stations have been filled with quick-growing radish.

The radish should be ready in just four weeds by which time the infant parsnip should be popping out if the soil.
